(Offida – AP, 3 May 2019). It will be a toast based on Offida Pecorino Docg and Falerio Pecorino Doc on Sunday 5 May for the inauguration of the new multi-purpose Civic Center of Arquata del Tronto (AP, from 11.30 am to 4.00 pm), realized thanks to funding and founding activity promoted by Rotary District 2090 (Abruzzo, Marche, Molise, Umbria) following the earthquake of 2016. And 17 companies will contribute their own labels to the tasting counter offered for the occasion by the Piceno Wines Consortium.

Thus the white native, originating precisely from the mountain area of Arquata, welcomes the structure built on the ground of the former elementary school within the “Fenice Project”, designed to help “rebuild the future” of the centers devastated by the earthquake , thus helping to reactivate activities and job opportunities at the local level. The presidents also included the president of Rotary International, Barry Rassin.

Protagonist in the last 30 years of a progressive rediscovery, Pecorino has become one of the symbolic varieties of the Piceno territory. At the beginning of the nineties, a period of experimentation began by some producers who managed to tame the critical points. “A commitment that – said the president of the Consorzio Piceni wines, Giorgio Savini -, together with the activity of the Consortium, allowed to exalt and make known the peculiarities of this vine, through promotion and protection policies also contained in the disciplinary of production of the native Marche region ”.
