“The Consortium – commented the president Giorgio Savini – has for some time followed the valorization of the native vines, such as Pecorino and Passerina which make up the white DOCG wines of the Offida DOCG and Montepulciano for the reds, almost exclusive to the Red Offida and prevalent for the Rosso Piceno, which strongly links local wine production to the territory … ”

Rossi Piceni are divided between the Offida Rosso DOCG, Rosso Piceno DOC and Rosso Piceno DOC Superiore denominations. The Offida Rosso DOCG provides a minimum percentage of Montepulciano of 85%, to which other non-aromatic red grapes can be added, while the Rosso Piceno DOC is based on Montepulciano (from 35 to 70%) and Sangiovese (from 30 at 50%).
Other non-aromatic red grapes are allowed, up to a maximum of 15%.
